Designing a book cover was quite difficult but fun at the same time. I love to read (yes I am a bookworm) and write for a passion. I want to tell a little bit about my book cover design just so you can get a idea. With the front cover, I made the setting at the beach and made a mysterious "Into the blues" colour scheme. It's just so it can feel bewildering to the colour of it. I am not really a good expert at making colour schemes for designs but I gave it a go anyway.
I really enjoyed thinking of the design because I had a variety of ideas to choose from.
I found it challenging to write down the synopsis (which is the back of the book).

Kia ora Ruby-Rhain,
ReplyDeleteI am working as a facilitator in Tairāwhiti schools, like Mrs Williams.
Your blurb on your book is intriguing. It makes me wonder what happened to Alexis' brother and how she will overcome her fear.
Remember to only use your first name online. Perhaps you could change it to Ruby-Rhain M or even just your first name like a really famous person!
Why did you choose the sea anchor for your cover?
Mrs Krausse
Kia ora Mrs Krausse,
DeleteI have put an anchor on the front cover because it adds to the design. I don't know why but anyways, thank you for the advice.
Kia kite,
Ruby-Rhain
Thanks for letting me know Ruby.
DeleteWhat sort of books do you like to read? I like ones that have characters I care about and often I like ones set in a real place with history.
Mrs Krausse
Kia ora Mrs Krausse,
DeleteI like books that are full of humor and relatable situations. I also like reading some non-fiction books such as Astrology and Biology. I also like books that are full of twists.
Thank you for asking
Kia kite,
Ruby-Rhain
Relatable situations - I agree. One's that are real and make sense to me. Sometimes I like to read something that helps me to understand something new, like a fiction book set in another culture.
DeleteDo you mean Astrology or Astronomy?
I am interested in Astronomy and enjoy being able to look at the night sky and name the stars and planets - a few anyway.
Mrs Krausse
Kia Ora Ruby-Rhain,
ReplyDeleteThe book cover you designed for your favourite book is awesome! I think that it’s great that you consider yourself a bookworm, because not only is reading so much fun, but it’s also great for you brain too!
I had never heard of the book ‘Water Dunes’ before reading your blog post - but now I think I might have to look out for it when I am at the library next! It sounds very exciting and full of adventure, which is my favourite type of book! What is your favourite book genre?
I like how you choose a colour scheme that represents the book in your eyes - very cool! Choosing beach and water theme as the backgrounds of your book covers (front and back) was perfect for the book you choose! Do you enjoy spending time at the beach? Personally, I think the beach is so much fun! There are so many different things you can do there!
Ngā mihi nui
